This simple denim flower will decorate any garment, handbag, backpack, or hat. It is very easy to sew, even for beginners.
Materials
To make this nice flower accessory, you will need:
- Denim fabric 45 cm x 5 cm
- Denim stripe 30 cm x 1 cm
- Claret cotton stripe 30 cm x 1 cm
- Black cotton stripe 30 cm x 1 cm
- A piece of white cloth
- 1.5 cm diameter button
- Sewing thread no. 120
Steps for sewing the flower accessory
When all the pattern pieces are cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.
Step 1. Cut a piece of 45 cm x 5 cm from the denim and disassemble part of the threads at the edge. As shown in the first picture, green mark, there should be 8 mm of dismantling thread fringe left.
Sew the edge of the denim with a needle and thread, and pull the fabric as tight as the thread will allow. Join the edges of the fabric where the yellow line in the picture shows.
Step 2. Gather three colored cords together, tie a knot at the end, and braid into a pigtail.
Step 3. Sew the pigtail onto the jeans. Start sewing from the middle, spiraling outwards as shown in the first picture.
Wrap the button with a piece of white fabric and secure the fabric at the bottom of the button (picture 2). Push the button and fabric through the center of the flower. The button should be on the right side, and the fabric on the wrong side (picture 3). Spread the white fabric and sew it to the flowers (picture 4).
Attach a safety pin to the other side of the flower. That’s it…..you have a beautiful accessory that you can attach anywhere.
