Pants for kids

Here is an easy and fun sewing lesson showing how to make pants for kids with colorful, round patches on the knees! For this project, you will need the sleeves of an old, unused sweatshirt, so it is a great way to recycle unnecessary clothes. The lesson is very simple, accompanied by clear photos and a video, so even sewing beginners will easily follow it. The result is comfortable, soft, and playful pants for your little one.

Sewing pants for kids step-by-step

Step 1. Cut the sleeves off an old sweatshirt. The sleeves should be 44 cm long.

Step 2. Cut the fabric from the sleeves as shown in photo 2. The back side of the pants is cut 4.5 cm deep from the edge, and the front side 2.5 cm deep from the edge (photos 3 and 4).

Step 3. Cut two circles from colored cotton fabric. Place them on the dark lining and sew them right side down. Remember to leave a 2-4 cm gap unsewn so you can turn them inside out. Then cut off the excess lining and smooth out well around the circles. Sew them on both sides of the pants at about the height of the child’s knees, as shown in photo 3.

Step 4. Place the pants’ legs crotch-to-crotch and sew the front of the pants together, then the back. Trim the top of the pants fabric around the edges with pinking shears. Fold the top edge 2 cm and sew, leaving about 1 cm of unsewn space.

Step 5. All you have to do is pass the elastic through the gap and connect the ends. Now your kid’s pants are finished, and you can put them on and go for a walk.
