Tired of boring tablet cases? Let’s fix that. Sew your own adorable iPad case with this easy tutorial with step-by-step photos and a video guide. It’s practical, safe, and completely for you. You might want to make more than one. Perfect for beginners and a great way to use up your favorite fabrics. Make sure to have the correct size dimensions for your tablet in case the size varies.

Cutting out pattern pieces

Here you can find all pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. Use a 1 cm seam allowance for all seams unless otherwise specified.

The hearts cut out on the fabric are 6 cm x 6 cm in size. They are cut out on the fabric one against the other, as shown in the picture. Then follow the instructions as shown in the step-by-step photos and in the video.

Steps for sewing the tablet/iPad case

When all the pattern pieces are cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.

Step 1. Place two red pieces of fabric on the red fabric (29 cm x 26 cm) and draw two hearts on them, one facing the other. Sew along the heart line and cut out the inside of the heart. Put out the small red pieces through the hole and iron them. Then place the gray variegated fabric under the cut out hearts and sew the edge around where the yellow line indicates. The picture alongside shows what the gray fabric looks like sewn on from the other side.

Step 2. Then, to the edge of the red fabric with the hearts, sew two gray strips cut from the same color fabric as the hearts. Divide the zipper into two parts and sew them to the edges of the strips and sew a gray fabric lining (29 cm x 40 cm) on top of them. Divide the zipper into two parts and sew them to the edges of the strips, and sew the gray fabric lining (29 cm x 40 cm) on top of them. Turn the bag right side out and sew a finishing line along the zipper. Fasten the zipper head on both sides of the zipper.

To make the bag softer, you can sew polyester wadding between the outer fabric and the lining.

Step 3. Sew the sides of the bag together and edge them with Bias binding tape. You can cut edging tape into strips sideways from any color of fabric.
