Here, you will find a tutorial on how to sew this cute denim bag. It is convenient for storing small items or a mobile phone and will look nice on your shoulder. This bag will go with any outfit and in any season.
We used two types of fabrics that go very well together: denim and linen.
Materials
To make this cute denim bag, you will need :
- Denim fabric
- Linen fabric
- Linen decorative ribbon 30 cm
- Velcro tape 4 cm
- Light brown and black strings 150 cm
- Gray sewing thread no. 100
Cutting out pattern pieces
Here, you can find all pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. Use a 1 cm seam allowance for all seams if not indicated otherwise.
- The main detail of the bag is 2 pieces.
- Linen pocket dimensions.
- The bag’s closing flap has 2 pieces.
- Straps holding metal rings for the bag belt, 2 pieces
- Denim stripe.
Steps for sewing the cute denim bag
When all the pattern pieces are cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.
Step 1. Sew a linen decorative ribbon to the top of the linen pocket (no.2). Sew the pocket onto one of the main parts of the jeans (no.1).
The bag’s closing flap has 2 pieces. Sew one piece of Velcro tape onto one part and a decorative linen ribbon onto the other as shown in the picture. Then join the pieces together and turn them out, and sew the edges with a thread.
Step 2. Sew the flap on top of one of the main details of the bag. Sew the velcro strip on top of the other main detail with the pocket as shown in the picture below.
Now sew the main pieces together on three sides and turn them out. Below we see what the tasyte looks like when turn out to the right side.
Step 3. Sew two strips from the pattern pieces no. 4. They will have metal rings for attaching the belt. Then sew them to the sides of the bag as shown in the picture below.
Sew the edges of the lining and attach it to the top of the bag. Sew the remaining edge of the lining and move it inside the bag.
Step 4. Below you can see the full image of the bag. The other side of the picture shows three stripes that will be braided into a rope that we will use for the cute bag belt. One strip is sewn from denim fabric (no.5), and the other two are black and light brown 150 cm ropes.
Step 5. Thread all three strings together through the metal ring located on the sides and tie a knot at the end as shown in the picture below. Braid the strings and thread them through the metal ring on the other side, and tie a knot.
The remaining uneven ends of the ropes can be cut off. I left the ends of two ropes on one side because they add a nice accent to the whole.
