Wine bag for Valentine

When it comes to Valentine’s Day celebrations, we often run out of fancy accessories to celebrate the day of love. Here’s a simple tutorial on how to make a heart-shaped wine bottle bag. This wine bottle in a bag looks extravagant and will decorate any table.

The bag is sewn from denim fabric, and decorated with red cotton.

The wine basket has a heart on both sides. On one side, the heart is not sewn on top and a space is left that represents a pocket where you can leave a love card for your loved one.

Materials

To make this nice wine bag for Valentine you will need:

  • Denim fabric 37 cm x 35 cm
  • Red cotton 40 cm x 20 cm
  • Lining fabric 35 cm x 30 cm
  • Red and black threads no. 120

The instructions below provide the measurements for cutting out pattern pieces and the main steps for sewing the wine bag for Valentine.

Cutting out pattern pieces

Here, you can find all the pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. If not indicated otherwise, use a 1 cm seam allowance for all seams.

The photo below shows the numbered pieces of the pattern. You will cut out six different shapes in total.

  1. The main denim parts of the bag. There must be two of them.
  2. Red cotton, from which a decorative heart will be sewn on one side of the bag.
  3. The denim bottom of the bag.
  4. Decorative pleated band at the top of the bag. There must be two of them, one made of denim and the other made of red cotton.
  5. Heart made of red cotton.
  6. Lining inside the bag.

Steps for sewing the wine bag for Valentine

When all the pattern pieces are cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.

Step 1. A small piece of lining was sewn to one of the main parts of the bag. The place to sew the heart-shaped border is marked with white dotted lines. Then cut out the heart leaving a 1 cm border to the seam. Cut in the places shown with yellow marks.

Step 2. Turn the lining to the other side and sew the heart around with dark thread (shown by the white dotted line). On the other side, neatly cut off the excess lining.

Step 3. Now we will sew two different red hearts. On the red fabric ( cutting no. 2 ) mark lines every 3 cm. Fold the fabric along these lines into 1.5 cm pleats. Sew a seam through the middle of the pleats. Then fold the edges of the pleats to the opposite side and sew again. Do this on both sides as you can see in the first photo. Smooth out the folds so they fit snugly. Place the main part of the bag with the heart-shaped hole cut out on this folded fabric and sew and sew as shown in picture 4.

Sewing the second heart is easier. Sew the cut-out heart (no. 5) onto the lining leave a small gap as shown in picture 2 and turn it out. Smooth and sew it neatly onto the other main bag parts, leaving a 6 cm gap at the top as shown in picture 2. This heart will be used as a pocket for a greeting card.

Step 4. Connect the two main sides of the bag and sew the bottom (cutting no. 3).

Sew a strip of denim folded in half onto the red cotton strip. Then sew it to the top of the bag, making a pleat every 1 cm as seen in the picture below.

Step 5. Fold in half and join the lining side ( cutting no. 6 ). Put the lining inside the bag as shown in the picture below and sew it at the top. Turn the bag over the bottom of the lining and sew it shut.

Turn the lining into a bag and attach the lining to the bottom of the jeans using a needle and thread.

We put a bottle of wine in a bag and decorate the table. The wine bag for Valentine looks beautiful from both sides. It is decorated with two different hearts. Don’t forget to write a love card and put it in the heart pocket.
