Here, you will find a tutorial on how to sew a beautiful tablecloth with apple appliqués. It is easy and very simple to sew, but it takes a little more time to sew the apple appliqués. But every minute spent sewing this tablecloth is worth the final result.
Materials
To make this nice tablecloth with apples, you will need:
- Gray light cotton fabric 72 cm x 72 cm
- Pink cotton fabric 18 cm x 73 cm
- Green dark cotton fabric 21 cm x 24 cm
- Green light cotton fabric 18 cm x 18 cm
- Red cotton fabric 14 cm x 32 cm
- Yellow cotton fabric 15 cm x 20 cm
- A small piece of black fabric
- Bias edging strip 240 cm
- Six colored threads no. 120
Cutting out pattern pieces
Here are all the pattern pieces and their dimensions. The apple details are cut with special serrated scissors for fabric edge trimming. In total, you will cut out four different shapes.
- Apple.
- Stem with leaf.
- Small semicircle.
- Bigger semicircle.
- Blue detail that needs to be cut to insert the stem with the leaf.
Steps for sewing the tablecloth with apples
Step 1. Cut a circle 72 cm in diameter from light gray cotton. This will be our tablecloth on which we will sew apple appliques. Sew a gray edging strip on the edge of the tablecloth.
Then cut out with scissors 12 red and 4 light green circles (no. 1), 16 green dark stems with the leaf, 16 small yellow semicircles, and 12 red and gray light bigger semicircles.
Step 2. Sew a red semicircle on the pink circle and a smaller yellow semicircle on top of it. Sew all 12 apples of this color in this way. Then, sew gray semicircles onto four light green circles and smaller yellow semicircles onto them.
Sew all 16 apples onto the edge of the tablecloth at equal distances.
Step 3. Sew all 16 stems with the leaf to the apple and the dark top of the apple. Sew around the toothed edge.
Now the work is finished, and you have a beautiful tablecloth.
It can be washed without fear of damaging the serrated edges of the apples. Some of the thread fibers will fall out of the serrated edge and will not be the same as before. But after every wash, this tablecloth will look different, but it will always maintain its distinct style.
