Here you will find a tutorial on how to sew a beautiful round box. You can store pencils, jewelry, and other small items in it. The box will look beautiful on a shelf in the kitchen or in a child’s room. Its beautiful colors will also decorate a bookshelf.
Materials
To make a beautiful round box, you will need:
- 5 different colored cotton fabrics
- Polyester wadding 2 cm thick
- Synthetic insert hardener
- A decorative lilac ribbon
- Two colors threads No. 100
Cutting out pattern pieces
The instructions below provide the measurements for cutting out pattern pieces and the main steps for sewing the round box.
Here are all the pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. If not indicated otherwise, use a 1 cm seam allowance for all seams.
- Four colors strips that will be connected together.
- Bottom of the box.
- Inner fabric of the bag.
Steps for sewing the round box
When all the pattern pieces are cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.
Step 1. We cut out 3 pieces of each of the four different colored fabrics. Then sew a decorative checkered lilac ribbon onto the lilac ribbons as seen in the picture below.
Step 2. Put the polyester wadding 50 cm X 14 cm on the inner fabric of the box (no. 3) so that 3 cm of the fabric protrudes above, as shown in the picture. Place the strip under the nail on the polyester and sew along the edge indicated by the red lines. You need to sew strips of different colors in a row.
Step 3. We connect the sides of the box as shown in picture 1 and edge it with a strip cut from the same fabric used inside the box (picture 2).
Then, we fold the inner, protruding top of the box fabric outwards and sew it with a decorative seam ( red line, picture 3 ).
Step 4. We connect the bottom of the box to the bottom (no.2). We edge the edges with edging tape. In the pictures below, you can see the entire process.
Step 5. All you have to do is sew three bows from the checkered decorative lilac ribbon and sew them to the top of the box, over the lilac fabric.
A round box is very easy to sew for both adults and children. Sew it from whatever fabric you have. Good luck.
