Often, our clothes lack pockets or are too small to safely hide our mobile phone. So here you will find how to sew yourself a small shoulder bag that will fit your mobile phone. Your mobile phone will be safe, and you will be able to walk around without fear that it might fall out of your small pocket, and besides, your hands will be free.
The mobile phone bag will match any outfit. It is decorated with a grape appliqué and blends beautifully with the color of the linen fabric.
Materials
To make this cute mobile phone bag, you will need :
- Greenish and pinkish linen fabric.
- Pink cotton fabric.
- Eight circles of dark denim.
- Two green and one yellow applique leaves.
- Two wooden rings for the belt.
- A zipper.
- Pink and light gray sewing thread no.120.
Cutting out pattern pieces
Here you can find all pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. Use a 1 cm seam allowance for all seams if not indicated otherwise.
The photo below shows the numbered pieces of the pattern. The numbers correspond to the cut-out pieces in the following photos. In total, you will cut out three different shapes and a fabric strip for a belt.
The detail marked No. 1 is the edging tape for the sides of the bag (pcs 2). Detail No. 2 is the main bag base, 2 pcs from the line fabric, and 2 pcs from cotton fabric. Detail No. 3 is the edging tape for the bottom of the bag.
Sewing the mobile phone bag
When you have all the pattern pieces cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.
Step 1. Cut 8 circles from dark denim. Disassemble the threads around the edges of the circles. Sew them all to the base as shown in the first picture. This will give you the appearance of a bunch of grapes. Using brown thread, embroider a grape stem in a zigzag pattern and sew three leaves to it.
Then place the main piece right side up, place the zipper edge on top of it, and place the cotton fabric piece on top of it as shown in the second picture, and sew them together. Cotton fabric will be our inner lining of the bag. Do the same with the other side of the zipper as shown in picture 3.
Step 2. Stretch the bag fabric to the zipper sides as shown in picture 1, and sew with finishing thread where the yellow line indicates.
Then, place all four fabrics together and hem the bottom of the bag with a cut piece of No. 3 linen. With strips cut from linen according to dimensions no. 1, hem the sides of the bag as you can see in picture 3. The ends should protrude 5 cm at the top.
Step 3. Thread wooden rings onto the 5 cm end and fold the fabric to the other side of the bag, and sew it to the base.
All that’s left is to sew the bag belt and attach it to the wooden rings.
