This is a tutorial for linen kitchen gloves. I used two layers of linen: one stained fine-weave fabric and the other edging tape cut from solid-colored coarse-weave fabric. I used a lining inside. Sintepon is placed between the linen and the lining, which is necessary to protect hands from hot surfaces in the kitchen and maintain acceptable softness and convenience.
Materials
To make this nice kitchen apron with pockets you will need:
- Linen fabric fine-weave 150 cm x 30 cm
- Lining fabric 150 cm x 40 cm
- Edging tape cut from linen fabric coarse-weave about 250 cm
- Warming sintepon ( thicker, heavy ) 300gr/m2
- Warming sintepon ( thinner ) 100gr/m2
- Sewing thread no. 120
The instructions below provide the measurements for cutting out pattern pieces and the main steps for sewing the kitchen gloves.
Cutting out pattern pieces
Here are all the pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. If not indicated otherwise, use a 1.5 cm seam allowance for all seams.
The photo below shows the numbered pieces of the pattern. The numbers correspond to the cut-out pieces in the following images. In total, you will cut out two different shapes.
- The big details of the kitchen gloves( 2 pcs )
- The smaller details of the kitchen gloves ( 4 pcs )
Steps for sewing the kitchen gloves
When all the pattern pieces are cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.
Step 1. Sew the parts together in three layers (lining-sintepon-line). Neatly trim the excess material and syndepon.
Step 2. Stitch the details with diagonal strips as shown in the image below.
Step 3. Small details are on the edge border with linen tape.
Step 4. Place both small details on the large one and sew around. The lining material remains inside, and the decorative linen is on the outside. Finally border with linen tape around.
Sew 12 cm loops from the same strips and sew them to kitchen gloves so that it is convenient to hang them in the kitchen.
Good luck.
