Kitchen apron with pockets

This is a tutorial for a kitchen apron with pockets of linen. I used two layers of linen. One fabric is stained fine-weave, and the other is solid-colored coarse-weave.

A strip that remains after cutting the edge of the fabric will decorate the pockets. The apron’s belt has a towel ring sewn on it.

Materials

To make this nice kitchen apron with pockets you will need:

  • Linen fabric fine-weave 150 cm x 50 cm
  • Linen fabric coarse-weave 160 cm x 30 cm
  • 4 cm diameter wooden ring
  • Sewing thread no. 120

The instructions below provide the measurements for cutting out pattern pieces and the main steps for sewing the kitchen apron with pockets.

Cutting out pattern pieces

Here, you can find all the pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. If not indicated otherwise, use a 1.5 cm seam allowance for all seams.

The photo below shows the numbered pieces of the pattern. The numbers correspond to the cut-out pieces in the following images. In total, you will cut out eleven different shapes.

  1. The upper part of the kitchen apron.
  2. The lower part of the kitchen apron.
  3. Top pocket.
  4. Bottom pocket.
  5. Strip for tying around the neck.
  6. Tape to fasten the round towel ring.
  7. Waist belt ( 2 pcs ).

Steps for sewing the denim backpack

When all the pattern pieces are cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.

Step 1. Sew up the top and bottom pockets with decorative tape left over from the edge of the fabric.

Step 2. Fold and sew the edges of the top apron piece. In the middle sew the pocket.

Step 3. Do the same with the lower part of the kitchen apron ( bend the side edge, sew up the pocket). Make two folds on both sides of the top. We don’t bend the bottom of the apron because the edge is decorative.

Step 4. The upper part of the kitchen apron is hemmed with a linen ribbon so that the ribbon can be tied around the neck. After that, connect both waistbands below to the upper part of the kitchen apron.

Step 5. Connect the lower kitchen apron part to these two waistbands. Sew the belt to the end and sew the strip with a wood ring for a towel.

I did not find a wooden ring. Therefore, I used a plastic ring wrapped in linen tape.

This kitchen apron is for keeping your clothes clean. It’s easy to sew yourself. Good luck.
