Everyone appreciates handmade Christmas star decorations. We offer a simple tutorial on how to sew a star to hang on a Christmas star. It is very easy for both an adult and a child to do.
The star is sewn in two colors, with different sides. You can choose the colors at your discretion.
Materials
To make this nice Christmas star you will need :
- Polyester felt two colors 23 cm x 23 cm.
- Wadding 100% polyester.
- Linen string.
- Two colors Sewing thread No. 120.
Cutting out pattern pieces
Here, you can find all the pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. Since we will be sewing from the outside, it is enough to leave a 0.5 cm seam allowance.
The photo below shows pieces of the pattern.
You will need to cut out two large star pieces from one color and two from another color, as well as two small stars in different colors. We will sew a ball from a two-centimeter strip to the end of the hanging string.
Steps for sewing the Christmas star
Step 1. Sew the small stars onto the big ones as shown in the picture. Place the stars of different colors on each other and sew them together. You will have two halves of the stars.
Step 2. Place both sides of the stars together and sew from the outside. Don’t forget to leave one ray of the star unsewn so you can fill the inside with wadding.
Step 3. Fill the inside of the star with cotton wool, and distribute it so that the rays are also filled. Attach the linen string and sew the remaining gap. This is how it looks from both sides.
Step 4. Cut a 2 cm strip and thread it onto the end of the string. Then secure the strip with a needle and thread as shown in the picture.
Good luck to your little star shining on the Christmas tree. And may it bring joy to your loved ones.
Merry Christmas and a Happy Year.
