Bottle bag

This mineral, water, or beverage bottle will now have its own bag. Children especially love these bottle bags. They look stylish and convenient to carry because you can drink without taking the bottle out of the bag.

The bag is made of linen fabric, with a denim bottom and a denim strip on top. It is also decorated with a decorative linen ribbon. A drawstring at the top tightens the fabric and prevents the bottle from falling out.

The instructions below provide the measurements for cutting out pattern pieces and the main steps for sewing the bottle bag.

Cutting out pattern pieces

Here are all the pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. If not indicated otherwise, use a 1.5 cm seam allowance for all seams.

The photo below shows the numbered pieces of the pattern. The numbers correspond to the cut-out pieces in the following images. In total, you will cut out four different shapes.

  1. The main large detail is made of linen fabric.
  2. Denim fabric strip sewn to the main details on the top.
  3. Top of the bottle bag.
  4. Bottom of the bottle bag.

Steps for sewing the bottle bag

When all the pattern pieces are cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.

Step 1. Connect part 1 with part 2 and place it on the sintepon. Draw longitudinal lines every 3 cm as shown in the picture.

Step 2. After folding the fabric, sew along the drawn line 7 mm from the edge. This way, all the drawn lines will be sewn. Once you have sewn all the marked lines, connect the sides of the fabric and sew the bottom of the denim piece no. 4.

Step 3. Now we will sew the top part of the bottle bag. Cut out the detail marked no. 3 from the linen fabric. Cut out the same size detail from the lining fabric, only 2-3 cm narrower. Sew the lining to the linen fabric and sew it again from the right side.

Sew a decorative ribbon onto the linen 6 cm from the connection line with the lining. Attach two metal holes 3 cm from this connection line.

Step 4. Fold and sew along the sides of the lining and linen fabric as marked with the blue line in the picture. Then turn it so that the lining remains inside leave 2 cm of linen fabric inside and sew with a thread as shown in the picture with the green line.

To make it easier to connect this part to the lower main part, connect the linen fabric with the lining as shown in the yellow line in the picture. Cut off the excess lining.

Step 5. Connect the main part with the top part. Cut out a 28 cm x 23 cm piece of lining fabric. Connect its sides, put it on the sewn bag, and connect it to its top.

Step 6. Turn the lining inside out and sew the bottom. To put the lining in a bag and use a needle and thread to sew it to the bottom to hold it securely inside.

All you have to do is thread the string through the metal holes and attach a plastic fastener to both ends of the string. The fastener will allow you to open and close the bag. Join both ends of the string together and tie them into one large knot.
