Here, you will find a tutorial on how to sew this beautiful little bag with a yellow band. The bag is convenient for storing small items and will look nice on your shelf.
You can combine fabrics of different colors. You can sew the ribbon yourself or just buy it at the store.
Materials
To make this cute bag with yellow band, you will need :
- Variegated cotton fabric 26 cm x 26 cm
- Greenish linen fabric 26 cm x 26 cm
- Yellow cotton tape about 60 cm x 3,5 cm
- Lining fabric 45 cm x 22 cm
- Yellow and light gray sewing thread no.120
Cutting out pattern pieces
Here, you can find all pattern pieces and their dimensions. All dimensions are shown with sewing allowances. Use a 1 cm seam allowance for all seams if not indicated otherwise.
Detail 1 shows the dimensions of the variegated and greenish fabric. There will be 4 variegated strips and 4 greenish strips in total.
Detail 2 shows the strip’s dimensions for sewing the bag’s closing band.
Detail 3 shows the dimensions of the lining.
Steps for sewing the bag with yellow band
When all the pattern pieces are cut out and ready, follow the steps below to sew them together.
Step 1. Connect all the colorful and green fabric pieces, as shown in the picture below. Sew below, where the dotted black line shows.
Then form the bottom by sewing the edges of the bag as shown in the red line in the next picture. You can trim the ends, although it is not necessary.
Step 2. Sew the lining side. Then, put them in a fabric bag and sew them together at the top. Turn the fabric’s right side out.
Extend 2 cm of the top edge of the fabric to the inside of the bag and sew two seams as shown by the yellow dotted line.
Step 3. Turn the lining out of the bag and sew the bottom. Make a band for tying from the yellow cotton ribbon and sew it to the side of the bag.
To make the ends of the band look nice, tie them one at a time. Good luck.
