This backpack is very comfortable for going to work. The backpack I bought was torn, so I decided to sew it myself. I made a little improvement because I missed the inner pockets. Searching for specific items is very inconvenient and annoying. That`s why this backpack has two inner pockets where things can be stored neatly.
All dimensions are shown with sewing treads. In this photo, the dimensions of the backpack and pockets.
Purpose and benefits of pockets. In the small pocket, I sewed an even smaller one where I kept the daily medicines or vitamins. The large pocket on the other side has space for two pens. You can make smaller pockets or leave one larger one. It`s best to sew the pockets with threads of the same color as the backpack fabric so that the seam is not visible from the outside.
Fold and sew the ends of the material on both sides about 6 cm. Red arrows show where.
Unfold and sew the ends on both sides to leave about a 2 cm hole for the rope. Black arrows show where.
Fold the fabric in half then string the two cm holes with the ropes as shown in the photos.
We will use the principle of “closed seams” for sewing backpacks. We fold the backpack fabric with the right side inside out (pockets remain inside) and sew both sides. Cut the excess fabric along the edge to leave 3-5 mm for the seams. Leave holes of 1 cm in the bottom of the backpacks on both sides.
We connect the cords ends together and reach the left 1 cm holes at the bottom of both sides, then we sew the gap.
We turn the backpack so that the inner side with the pockets is on the outside and sew about 5 mm on both edges. In the upper part of the backpack both sides, leave gaps of 3 cm, which will allow the ropes to move freely.
We turn the backpack so that the pockets are inside. And here is our result.
We put things in our pockets, tighten the drawstring, put the bag on our shoulders, and travel!
